The Categories of Ready Mix Concrete

Not Your Regular Concrete

Unlike an ordinary batch of a concrete slump, a ready mix or premixed concrete is premium quality concrete which is prepared in a controlled environment. It is widely differentiated from the site mixed concrete as specially designed units, machinery and state-of-the-art facilities are employed to draw up excellent and consistent concrete. Apart from fully-functional and operating machines, the highlight of this concrete is that only premium quality raw materials and aggregates such as cement, gravel, crushed stones and a fresh water supply are used. Each of these elements is perfectly blended in proportion to deliver the precise ratio required for your robust and durable build.

From the operating unit, the freshly prepared concrete is transferred to a concrete truck with a mounted rotating drum. This drum ensures the churning of the concrete so that it does not solidify by the time it reaches you and holds its semi-liquid density! On arrival at the job site, builders and contractors can breathe a sigh of relief and immediately begin the application process with their timely delivery of ready mix concrete.

But is that it? Is ready mix concrete only known and highly favoured in the market because it is technologically advanced and promotes ease in the construction process by offering a ready to use delivery? Well, it is environmentally-safe concrete, fire-resistant and keeps your structure free from cracks during extreme weather conditions. However, builders and contractors can rejoice that since it is not your ordinary concrete, it is available in various gradients and strengths and can be customised per your construction requirements.

Therefore, based on your project size and type, you can pick from the variety of ready mix concrete that fits your checklist.

Types of Ready Mix Concrete

At Mixcrete, we facilitate all our clients with a variety of concrete strengths and gradients. The concrete strength of each ready mix concrete batch depends upon the weight it can endure after it has been applied. Our concrete strengths range from a C10 to a C40 with a perfect blend of primary aggregates. While the C10 has a force of 8 newtons, a C40 has a strength of 40 newtons. Our concrete gradients range from a C8 and go up to a C40.Let us understand the properties of each in detail.
  1. C8 / Gen 0: The C8 / Gen 0 is the most lightweight and liquid state of concrete that can be widely used for various commercial and domestic projects where the structure does not require a substantial base. This concrete can be used for kerb backings, beddings, haunching and edgings.
  2. C10 / Gen 1: This ready mix concrete category is the most versatile and flexible. It has been designed to carry weights of 10 newtons for a 28 day strength and can be laid or applied for various agricultural and domestic purposes. The C10/ Gen 1 concrete can be typically used for drainage works, trench fill, agricultural formations, general floor binding, garden walls, strip footings, pad foundations, and oversite below-suspended slabs.
  3. C15 / Gen 2: With a 15 newton weight that can endure a 28 day strength, a C15 or Gen 2 concrete is most suited for internal domestic flooring plans. It is not ideal for massive and heavy industrial constructions but for residential flooring that will eventually be covered with tiles or carpets. It is suited to develop foundations, floors with no permanent finish or embedded metal, and footings for small walls, sheds, etc.
  4. C20 / Gen 3 / ST1: This concrete category also has 28 day strength but a weight of 20 newtons. Suppose you want to build a firm yet lightweight foundation that can expect a light footfall; this concrete makes for an excellent choice. It can be applied to internal floor slabs, driveways, garages or sheds.
  5. C25 / S2: A multifaceted concrete grade as it can be used for many residential and commercial building project applications such as reinforced bases, concrete foundations, groundwork, kerbing, patios, trench fill, mass foundations etc.
  6. C30 / ST3: A 28 day strength grade with 30 newtons of weight applied for external commercial buildings and foundations looking for solid flooring. This concrete can be applied to driveways, exterior parking, patios, garage bases and pavements.
  7. C35 / ST4: This concrete grade is excellent for areas that encounter heavy-duty footfall and loading and be used for projects such as heavy-duty external paving and slabbing, re-enforced bases for commercial and agricultural walls, floors and workshops.
  8. C40 / ST5: C40 is a solid grade concrete used to support large and heavy commercial and industrial flooring projects. It is used in various roadwork applications, foundations, farms, ironworks, and structural and industrial applications such as road signs, lamp posts etc.
